Community Leadership 1958

Was associated with Gandhiji in his struggle for the freedom of India.
Was sent to jail in 1932, where he gave series of talks on Gita. These talks were published as the book ‘Talks on the Gita’.
In 1940 he was chosen by Gandhi to be the first Individual Satyagrahi against the British Rule.
Was pioneer of ‘Sarvodaya’ and ‘Bhoodan’ movement.
Was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’ posthumously in 1983.
