Was the member of the Board of Governors in International Monetary Fund (IMF) and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
Was the member of Planning Commission of India in 1950.
Worked as Finance Minister in the Cabinet of Government of India from 1951 to 1956.
Was the Chairman of University Grants Commission from 1956 to 1960.
Was the President of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) from 1945 to 1964 and the Institute of Economic Growth from 1965 to 1974.
Received Ramon Magsaysay Award for distinguished Government Service in 1959.
Received Padma Vibhushan in 1975.
