Became Vice Chancellor of Aligarh University.
Became the Governor of Bihar.
Became Vice President of India from 1962-1967 and President of India from 1967-1969.
Had a keen interest in literary and academic work. Translated in Urdu, Plato’s ‘The Republic’ and Cannon’s ‘Elementary Political Economy’.
Awarded with Padma Vibhushan in 1954 and Bharat Ratna in 1963.
