- Was the member of the Board of Governors in International Monetary Fund (IMF) and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
- Was the member of Planning Commission of India in 1950.
- Worked as Finance Minister in the Cabinet of Government of India from 1951 to 1956.
- Was the Chairman of University Grants Commission from 1956 to 1960.
- Was the President of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) from 1945 to 1964 and the Institute of Economic Growth from 1965 to 1974.
- Received Ramon Magsaysay Award for distinguished Government Service in 1959.
- Received Padma Vibhushan in 1975.
