Jayprakash Narayan
• Born : 11th October, 1902 • Died : 8th October, 1979 |
- Fondly called 'JP' and popularly known as 'Lok Nayak'.
- Formed Congress Socialist Party along with his friends.
- Took active part in Freedom Movement. Worked with Vinoba Bhave from 1954 to 1972 for Sarvodaya Movement.
- Organized a Peace Mission in 1972 for the surrender of dacoits of Chambal Valley.
- Was arrested during the 'Emergency' which was clamped by Indira Gandhi.
- Awarded 'Bharat Ratna' in 1999 posthumously.
