- Was an advocate of scientific methods and modern technology.
- Wrote several books of historical value e.g. India and the World, The Unity of India, The Discovery of India etc.
- Loved children so much, that his birthday in India is celebrated as 'Children's Day'.
- Was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955.
