- Has receieved 14 Honorary Doctorates, the Padma Vibhushan (1981), Padma Bhushan (1967), the Magsaysay Award, Two Grammy Awards, Fukuoka Grand Prize from Japan, the Crystal Award from Devos with the title 'Global Ambassador'.
